Concept and Design

Bloodborne is based in the gothic city of Yharnam which is described as “ancient” and “forgotten.” The city is characterized by a Victorian era feel. Bloodborne was inspired by the literary works of authors H.P.Lovecraft and Bram Stoker, as well as the architectural design of real world locations in places such as Romania and the Czech Republic.

Bloodborne received critical acclaim, with praise for its engaging gameplay, particularly its high level of difficulty, sound design, Lovecraftian themes, and interconnected world design. The brilliant mastermind to conceive this masterpiece is director, game designer, writer and company president, FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Attire and Style

Attire in Bloodborne is heavily inspired by 18th century European fashion. The Hunter’s attire is also an armour and protective equipment that aids in damage reduction, resistance and deffence from various forms of damage.

Composers Ryan Amon, Tsukasa Saitoh, Yuka Kitamura, Nobuyoshi Suzuki, Cris Velasco, Michael Wandmacher, SCEA Music Department produced a beautiful, haunting, and intense soundtrack that managed to perfectly capture the game’s essence of terror, desolation and gripping darkness.
